Turkey Curry Rice

Turkey Curry Rice is a flavorful and nutritious dish that is loaded with nutrients, lean protein, and fragrant spices. The curry spices impart warmth and depth to the ground turkey, and the rice provides a reassuring foundation for the dish. Peas add sweetness and color, making the dish more appealing and full of nutrients. Ground turkey offers fit protein for muscle upkeep, while the curry flavors offer mitigating and cell reinforcement benefits. Rice gives starches to energy, and peas contribute fiber, nutrients, and minerals. This dish is a simple to-make choice for a weeknight supper or dinner prep, offering a balanced, fulfilling feast that meets both taste and healthful necessities.

Key Ingredients of Turkey Curry Rice

  • Turkey: I opt for a 93% lean ground turkey in this dish. You are free to use any type you like, simply remove any extra fat from the pan if needed.
  • Meat: Meats such as ground pork, lamb, or chicken could be used instead of ground beef in this recipe, but I have not experimented with that substitution.
Spices: You can use either curry powder or Garam masala for this dish. I’ve experimented with both options and enjoyed both equally.
Looking to incorporate some heat? Dice a jalapeño or red chili pepper and cook it with the onion. Alternatively, you can mix in ¼ teaspoon of red pepper flakes along with the other seasonings for added spiciness.
Peas: Frozen peas are my preference, but if you prefer canned, that is also acceptable. If you don’t like peas, you can either leave them out or substitute with spinach.

Additionally, it’s important to cook and prepare your rice separately. I didn’t include that in the directions because it varies depending on your choice (white, brown, basmati, a rice blend, etc.).
And there are many choices available based on your preferences – or what ingredients you have on hand!
